AGENCY INSIGHTS: MICHELLE LEONG

Hi everyone,

My name is Michelle Leong, and I’m a Senior Account Manager at Hunter Communications, having joined the pack almost a year ago.

Prior to agency life I worked in-house in a variety of organisations, including managing public relations and marketing activities for one of Australia’s leading luxury hotel groups. Moving agency-side appealed to me due to the ability to work on a range of exciting clients and projects - every day is different, and there’s never a dull moment!

Here at Hunter Communications, I am able to put my passion for tourism, food and hospitality to good use, leading Hunter’s consumer client portfolio. This allows me to work with a whole group of talented brands doing great things in their industries.

In my time here at Hunter, we’ve managed large scale charitable campaigns for corporate organisations, introduced new products into the retail landscape, opened new hospitality facilities, launched new restaurants into the Perth market and managed influencer campaigns for leading shopping centres.

Working in the consumer sector requires constant flexibility and a great amount of creativity. Brands are constantly looking for new and fun ways to engage with consumers and spark conversations between potential and existing buyers. Public relations agencies have needed to innovate and change their offerings to suit the new media landscape and the rise of digital and social media. No longer just focused on gaining publicity in traditional media, agencies are now delving into the arena of content marketing, influencer relations, large scale event management and even activations.

At Hunter, we aim to continually adapt our offering to suit different clients. The brands we represent range from large-scale multi-national hospitality groups to small businesses, with every brand looking for success in a different way. One of the highlights of working agency-side is sitting down with client teams and finding out how to achieve their specific goals and objectives. It’s different every time, and you learn so much about what makes a business tick in today’s ever-changing economic times.

It’s an exciting time at Hunter, as we look at further expanding our offering to cater for the growing number of lifestyle, retail, hospitality and wellness clients we’re welcoming to the Hunter pack! I’m excited to continue to look for new ways to connect brands and consumers and grow Hunter’s reputation in the space.
